Kids and teens in these challenging times are going through a lot, and this can create big, overwhelming feelings in our developing children. You may be noticing that your child or teen is struggling to cope with these emotions and that this might be leading to some challenging behaviors or dynamics at home. They might seem to go from being fine one moment to having big feelings at the drop of a hat. This can be so difficult for parents and really affect the mood of the whole household. When your kid is upset, it can be hard to stay calm.

It’s my passion to work with children and families to help them cope with their emotions in healthy, effective ways. I teach that feelings are always ok, and certain behaviors are not always helpful. I use mindfulness-based techniques to teach coping skills for overwhelming moments so they can learn to calm their bodies down themselves. In session, we utilize art and play therapy to encourage even the most self-contained, resistant child that they can express themselves in safe and healthy ways. I also teach these tools to parents so that you and your child can help each other at home, leading to a more regulated, calmer, and happier household. I’m here to help your family process emotions, learn self-regulation techniques, and feel supported.

Hi, I’m Alison, a child, adolescent and teen therapist passionate about cultivating healthy emotional inner worlds. I use an integrative and creative approach which includes mindfulness activities, art and play therapy, and cognitive and behavioral therapy strategies to support all aspects of your child’s mind. I utilize children’s wonderful and vivid imaginations to work together in helping them find resources within themselves to self-regulate. My goal is to make therapy fun for kids while providing a safe space for them to explore their inner worlds and learn tools to cope with life’s challenges.

As a trauma-trained therapist, I work with adults who are coping with difficult life transitions such as job loss, grief, and challenging breakups. I support clients who have experienced traumatic events and integrate EMDR and Brainspotting into the work we do together.
